What you are about to witness is a real life DIY Command Center from a real family home. This is not a simulation:) please enjoy! It is almost time for us to prepare for back to school and I am in organization mode, as is most of the year actually. There is always something to organize, am I right? Here is a nice DIY room decor project to help inspire, it is our family’s home DIY Command Center -Crisp and Clean reveal! It is full of helpful tools to help start the school year off right while keeping the household and family in order during those busy weekdays.
If you remember my free printable ‘Clean Routine’ checklist set from our Home Organizing 31 Day Detox Diet Challenge, I have provided an new free printable for this project the ‘Plan of the Week’ weekly worksheet that can be made into a DIY Dry Erase Board to save paper and printer cartridge ink. Full list of sources are found at the bottom of this post!
BEFOREI wanted to lighten this space as much as possible. It was a desk inlet nook near our kitchen of this rental house. Placing the DIY Command Center here made perfect sense because this is where the family naturally congregates.
DIY Frame Tray or Dry Erase Boards
These are perfect for my ‘Clean Routine‘ and ‘Plan of the Week‘ free printables. Simply hang on the wall and use a dry erase marker on the frame glass.
Where I hang my list printables, worksheets, and checklists. Details below… We really love our ‘re-freshen’ station, aka ‘lazy susan of awesome’ which holds lots of essentials that can avoid a trip upstairs to grab sunscreen, lip balm, or hair brush.
Then I keep the ‘next’ month’s calendar within view so I can reference when scheduling and planning events around our family’s work and school priorities.
I am very fond of my faux marble counter tops, if this were not a rental, I would definitely done a more permanent fix. I cannot wait until we return to our home we ‘own’ so I can change some of the counters to real marble….just glorious!

Cute and simple swing top bottle to hold flowers…
It doesn’t have to be perfect, just DO it and you will be happy with the results:). My oldest daughter said…wow how did you make this so beautiful….and I said ‘lots of love and work…!’
