Purple Sweet Potato Turnovers Recipe
 Learn how to make easy Purple Sweet Potato Turnovers! I love purple sweet potatoes for many reasons. They are rich in nutrients and antioxidants for disease prevention and ANTI-AGING, a beauty super food in a vibrant purple sweet potato yam. They are also known as the Okinawan Sweet Potato, Purple Yam and maybe even Ube or Benimo in Japan. I heart Purple Sweet Potatoes!!!

Purple Sweet Potato Turnovers- SWEET HAUTE Benimo Ube RecipeMy family and I eat this beautiful Purple Sweet Potato on a regular basis. You can find them readily in the Asian super markets, oriental grocery stores, maybe even regular markets {when they are in season} or in the Asian foods section.
I wanted to make a treat out of these sweet potatoes to get the kids involved in the preparation and so that they will get more purple sweet potato in their diet. Yes, I know it has sugar…and sugar might cancel out the benefit etc. This recipe is for fun and to provide a learning experience for young bakers {my kids} in the kitchen.


6-8 Purple Sweet Potatoes / Benimo/ Ube / Okinawan Sweet Potatoes
2 cans of Crescent Dough/ similar favorite dough
1 14oz. can sweet Condensed Milk
1/2 cup Butter, softened/melted
Baking Dish
Cookie Sheet
Masher Utensil
Powdered Sugar
 Let’s Get Started making some sweet potato goodness:)
Step 1:
Peel skin, and cut into smaller pieces. Boil purple sweet potatoes until softened.

Step 2:
Pre-heat oven to *350F.
Step 3:
Mash up. Mix the purple sweet potato together, combine with the Condensed Milk and and 1/2 cup melted Butter. Refrigerate to set 20 minutes.

Step 4:
Roll out your Crescent Dough triangles on a lined Cookie Sheet. Spoon about a tablespoon amount of filling and turn dough over into crescent shape.
Step 5:
Bake in oven according to directions on your crescent dough package.
Step 6:
Garnish with Powdered Sugar, confectioners sugar and serve warm!

Note: This sweet potato is native to Okinawa, Japan island off of the mainland of Japan. It is thought to be one of the main reasons why Okinawan people have the highest longevity rate in all of the world, living until over 100yrs old and have the lowest rate of stomach/colon related cancer in the world.
